The Wimbledon House has recently undergone major refurbishment work.  A new accommodation block has been added to ensure that residents bedrooms fall within the sizes set out by the Care Standards Act 2000.

During this refurbishment the kitchen was significantly altered and a new commercial laundry and day lounge/smoking room were added.  As part of the continued refurbishment plan a hair salon/treatment room will be completed by the end of 2006, for clients that are not fortunate enough to be able to afford High Street prices.

In addition to all the facilities on offer at the Wimbledon, residents of the Wimbledon are encouraged to use the Day Care facilities on offer at The wimbledon, located with walking distance.

Charges

Accommodation charges are dependent on the local authority contracted rates which start from £476.62 per week.  All fees are reviewed annually in April.

Placements

All prospective new residents must undergo a full Needs Assessment prior to being accepted.

Communal Areas & Activities

The Wimbledon has a variety of communal areas around the house, a large dining room that is also used for daily activities from painting, arts and crafts. darts and table tennis.

The lounge is spilt into 2 areas, one for watching TV and DVD's the other area fro playing pool.  A purpose built day lounge/smoking room has been added with the new extension, it has double doors that open onto a large decked area of the garden.

The deck overlooks the rest of the garden that is laid to lawn and is ideally situated for frequent barbeques, outside activities such as football, rounder's and cricket, or for those that just prefer to relax in the sunshine

Bedrooms

The Wimbledon has 32 bedrooms, of which 8 are located in a new purpose built single storey extension.

6 of the new bedrooms have en-suite facilities comprising of W.C., basin and shower, the remaining  2 new bedrooms also have en-suite facilities suitable for residents with a disability and are provided with a W.C., basin and bath.

The remaining 24 bedrooms are all located with the main house and are on the ground floor and the upper floor.  2 of the bedrooms are registered as double rooms therefore suitable for couples wishing to share.

All bedrooms are supplied with a single bed, chest of drawers, bedside cabinet, wardrobe and chair.  IN addition all rooms are also fitted with a TV point connected to SKY digital.

Bathrooms & Toilets

There are a number of bathrooms and toilets throughout the Wimbledon located on the ground floor and upper floor.

The main bathroom on the ground floor has been designed as a disabled bathroom fitted with both a bath accessible on three sides and an open shower.

There are also 8 en-suite bathrooms/shower rooms on the ground floors and 2 separate W.C's.

On the upper floor there are 2 bathrooms one recently  converted to a shower room an the other to be refurbished early 2007.

In addition on the upper floor there are 2 separate W.C's.

Kitchen & Laundry

The kitchen at the Wimbledon has recently been totally refurbished and made larger.  The kitchen provides 4 meals a day.  Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Meal and Supper, in addition hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day along with an assortment of biscuits and cakes.

Special dietary requirements are catered for and the chef is always keen to hear suggestions from residents regarding alternative food they wish to try.

The Laundry is operated throughout the day and is fully fitted with commercial appliances including a tumble dryer, sluice washing machine and the new revolutionary Otex system, which combats germs such as MRSA.
