About The Wimbledon

The Wimbledon House is located in a quiet leafy avenue only a few minutes walk from Herne Bay Sea Front, and the main shopping area of the town.

The Accommodation is split over two floors, 15 of which are on the ground floor, 8 with ensuite bathrooms, which are suitable for residents with reduced mobility, however a stair lift has been installed so that the first floor is accessible to all. All Residents bedrooms fall within the sizes set out by the Care Standards Act 2000. In addition to the 8 ensuite, there are a further two bathrooms, one on the ground floor fitted with a hoist and wall in shower, and an additional shower room on the first floor.

There is a large industrial kitchen at Wimbledon House, the chef is regularly reviewing the menus to ensure variety, using local fresh produce. Themed meals are prepared which include Curry days, Mexican, Italian etc, on these occasions a sense of fun reverberates around the home, with Residents and Staff dressing up and adopting the traditions of the theme.

The dining room is large enough to accommodate all Residents, and when not in use for eating doubles up for a space that in the evenings is used for activities such as discos, parties and entertainment, this in addition to an adjacent large lounge area, with comfy seating and flat screen TV/DVD.

Wimbledon House also has a separate smoking lounge which opens up to a covered terrace where some of the Residents like to go and play on the full sized pool table.

There is a large garden to the side of the home that leads from the terrace, during the summer months, fetes are organised, outside games, such as cricket, football and boules.

Recognising the needs of our Residents Wimbledon House also has a purpose built Hair and Beauty Salon for those Residents that would like a little pampering but cannot afford to use local facilities.

Wimbledon House is also fortunate to be able to use all the facilities available at the Day Centre located at The Hailey.

Charges

Accommodation charges are dependent on the individual needs of residents in accordance with the completion of a full needs assessment and Cost Matrix proposals

Placements

All prospective new residents must undergo a full Needs Assessment prior to being accepted and fees agreed with whomever is responsible for funding. In all cases potential residents are encouraged to visit Wimbledon House, initially to spend a few hours and have lunch and then stay overnight.

All placements are subject to a one month trial period to ensure that the service and the resident are suitable

Communal Areas & Activities

The Wimbledon has a variety of communal areas around the house, a large dining room that is also used for daily activities from painting, arts and crafts. darts and table tennis.

The lounge is spilt into 2 areas, one for watching TV and DVD's the other area fro playing pool. A purpose built day lounge/smoking room has been added with the new extension, it has double doors that open onto a large decked area of the garden.

The deck overlooks the rest of the garden that is laid to lawn and is ideally situated for frequent barbeques, outside activities such as football, rounder's and cricket, or for those that just prefer to relax in the sunshine.
